Belleville Police respond to two incidents of intimate partner violence

Belleville Police charged two people following separate reports of intimate partner violence on Monday morning.

On October 20th at 10:48am, Belleville Police responded to a report of an assault in the city’s west end. The complainant reported observing a male slap a female. Officers attended the address and spoke with the male and the female. It was reported that a verbal altercation had occurred, which then escalated.

As a result of investigation, a 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

On October 20th at 11:52am, Belleville Police also responded to a second report of a domestic dispute in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male and female. It was reported that a verbal altercation had occurred, during which the male pushed the female into a bathtub.

As a result of investigation, a 20-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions not to communicate with the female and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
