In celebration of National Foster Family Week which takes place during the week of October 19, 2026, Highland Shores Children’s Aid recognizes their foster, kin and customary care families.
During the week, these individuals will receive a personalized thank you card and a token of our appreciation for their contribution to children and families of our community from their Resource Worker.
Each year, the Board of Directors offers a special recognition award to a foster family. This year, that award will be given to Carol Saunders & Craig Andrews. Carol & Craig have been fostering for almost 22 years and throughout that time have consistently shown how much they genuinely care about the children and youth they welcome into their home. They have continued to maintain relationships with many of the children and youth they have fostered over the years and remain someone they can turn to for support, encouragement and a familiar connection.
In addition, Highland Shores Children’s Aid is proud to recognize and celebrate the many foster, kin and customary care families who are marking significant milestone anniversaries with the Agency this year.
“The strength of foster, kin and customary care is found in relationships,” said Suzanne Anquetil, Director, Services. “They provide children and youth with consistency, connection, and a sense of belonging during times of change. This week, we are proud to recognize not only the care they provide, but the trust they build and the lasting impact they have on young people and families across Hastings, Prince Edward, and Northumberland.”
