More teachers, EA’s and soundboards coming to local public schools

The first board meeting of the year at the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board included some encouraging numbers.

Enrollment is up at elementary schools with the board.

Current enrolment is 14,981 students.

As a result of increase in elementary students, HPEDSB will hire seven additional elementary teachers and six additional designated early childhood educators. Secondary schools are still working through their reengagement strategies.

At the same meeting, The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation presentation celebrated the success of the Have You Heard? campaign in partnership with HPEDSB.

The campaign exceeded the fundraising goal of $550,000.

This means that every Kindergarten-Grade 3 classroom in HPEDSB will have a Soundfield system. greatly enhancing learning opportunities for children in local public schools.
