Belleville Police weekend wrap
Motor Vehicle Collision
Minor injuries were reported in a Friday evening collision in Belleville.
Around 9 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mitchell Road and Airport Parkway.
It was reported that one vehicle turned through the intersection into the path of another vehicle that was proceeding through the traffic lights, resulting in a head-on collision.
As a result of the investigation, the at-fault driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.
Intimate Partner Violence
On September 11, 2026, at 3:53 p.m., Belleville Police responded to an apartment in the city’s east end regarding a domestic disturbance.
It was reported that a male attended a female’s residence despite being bound by conditions, including non-communication, and initial information indicated that the male had assaulted the female.
Upon arrival, officers could hear yelling from inside the apartment. Officers entered the residence and located the male attempting to conceal himself in a closet. Officers also located the female, who was suffering from visible injuries.
The investigation revealed that the male had physically assaulted the female. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he actively resisted arrest.
The female was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
· Assault causing bodily harm – spousal X2
· Fail to comply with probation order X4
· Resist peace officer
He was held for a bail hearing.
Assault
Around 12:20 p.m. Belleville Police responded to a business on North Front Street regarding a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned that an interaction between a female employee and two males escalated into a physical altercation, during which one of the males struck the female in the head.
As a result of the investigation, Tarnpreet Singh, a 21-year-old Brampton man, was arrested and charged with assault.
He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.
Impaired Driver
On September 13, 2026, at 1:48 a.m., Belleville Police observed a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Front Street, including striking a curb.
Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the male driver, observing signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, James Wood, a 35-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
He was released on an undertaking with a court date in October.
Mischief / Fail to Comply
Sunday around 6:45 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a call for service at a residence in the city’s east end.
It was reported that a female resident threw a rock at a vehicle parked at the residence, causing damage to the window.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with:
· Mischief under $5000
· Failure to comply with a release order
She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in December.
Later that same day, before 4 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a separate call for service in the city’s east end involving the same female. It was reported that she had left the residence despite being bound by conditions requiring her to abide by the rules of the residence.
Officers located and spoke with the female, who indicated she would continue not to comply with the residence’s rules if she returned.
As a result, she was charged with:
· Fail to comply with probation order
· Fail to comply with release order
She was held for a bail hearing.
