The U16 Boys Quinte West Wolverines are champions on home turf.
The squad captured the title at the 28th Annual Cameron Memorial Tournament this past weekend, completing an impressive five-game run.
The Wolverines opened the tournament Saturday morning against FC Durham, earning a convincing 4–1 victory. John Korver led the scoring with a hat trick, while Kai Newar added the fourth goal.
In their second game Saturday afternoon, the Wolverines continued their strong performance with a 5–0 shutout victory over U16 Belleville. Gage Madore scored three goals, with additional goals from Jack Slade and John Korver.
Goalkeeper Jayden Polan recorded his first clean sheet of the tournament.
The Wolverines returned to the field Sunday morning, defeating Petawawa 3–0 to remain undefeated. Adrian Miller, Jack Slade and Cohen Haley found the back of the net, while Polan recorded his second consecutive clean sheet.
Having secured first place in their division, the Wolverines advanced to the semifinals against Darlington. A goal from Adrian Miller was enough to secure a 1–0 victory and a place in the championship final.
Polan once again kept the opposition off the scoreboard, recording his third clean sheet of the tournament.
In the championship final, the Wolverines faced Peterborough and delivered their most dominant performance of the weekend, cruising to a 6–0 victory. Goals came from Riggs Clost, Seth Kerswill, Sergey Poletaev, Cohen Haley, John Korver and Adrian Miller. Polan recorded his fourth clean sheet, helping the Wolverines finish the tournament with an impressive defensive record.
The Wolverines finished the tournament undefeated, scoring 19 goals while conceding just one across five games.
Individually, both Madore and Korver recorded hat tricks during the tournament, while Polan posted four clean sheets in five games, allowing just one goal throughout the entire tournament.
