The Government of Ontario is making sure that critical recreation infrastructure gets the support it deserves through vital roof repairs at the Cobourg YMCA.
Thanks to a $186,800 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, YMCA Northumberland has completed critical roof renovations.
On Friday, MPP David Piccini joined Mayor Lucas Cleveland, YMCA staff, volunteers, donors, and community members to celebrate the completion of this important project. This investment is
helping to ensure the facility remains safe, sustainable, and accessible for residents across Northumberland County.
“Community organizations like the YMCA play an essential role in helping people of all ages stay active, connected, and healthy,” stated Piccini
“Our government is proud to invest in community infrastructure through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, ensuring organizations like YMCA Northumberland have the modern, safe facilities they need to continue delivering vital programs and services for families across our region.
This investment will help protect this important community asset for years to come.”
Originally opened in 1979, the Cobourg YMCA has served as a community landmark of health, wellness, and connection for nearly 50 years.
The OTF Capital grant funded the replacement of the facility’s aging roof, protecting an important community asset that welcomes nearly 300,000 visits annually.
