The Quinte West OPP has laid charges in three separate impaired driving investigations over the past week.
On Monday, June 8 at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on Dundas Street West in Quinte West, resulting in the arrest of a driver for being impaired.
Robert Cronin, 68, from Trenton, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30.
The next day, around 5:45 p.m., a traffic complaint on Front Street, Quinte West, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for testing.
Eric Stevens, 29, from Trenton, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 23.
Finally, on Sunday, around 8 p.m., a traffic complaint at North Beach Provincial Park led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for testing where charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).
Shabir Noorzai, 30, from Brampton, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30.
All were given 90-day licence suspensions and had their vehicle
