The local community of concert bands are rallying together to tune up the summer concert series in Quinte West early next month.
The Mass Concert Band Concert will be on July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bob Wannamaker Amphitheatre, in Centennial Park in Quinte West.
Included in this year’s concert, in addition to the Trenton Citizens Band, will be The Belleville Concert Band under the direction of Brian Coughlan, the Hasting County Concert Band under the direction of John Monachan, the Stirling Citizens’ Band under the direction of Donna Bennett-Sporring, and the 8 Wing Concert Band under the direction of WO Trevor Argue CD.
“We are expecting to have over 100 musicians on stage performing at the same time. The concert will also feature special guest vocalists,” stated Trenton Citizens Band director Dan Shaer.
“There will be a crossover of musicians who perform in more than one of the bands, but we will be bringing together musicians who have never performed together before. Our goal is to build a sense of community between the bands, and their members in a spirit of cooperation, while providing for the audience a wonderful musical experience.”
The program itself will be very exciting and will include a wide variety of musical styles with something for all ages and musical tastes.
Attendees are asked to please bring a chair or a blanket.
