A special event will be held next week for people looking to learn about their future at Belleville’s Loyalist College.
The Paying for College Info Night will be held on May 13th, and just in advance of it, they have also made some positive announcements on the bursary front.
This year, Loyalist is introducing two significant enhancements designed to help students access funding sooner and reduce financial uncertainty.
The college will award $275,000 in donor-supported bursaries to eligible students during the spring and summer, giving people an early start on the fall. Loyalist will also increase its fall entrance bursary program to a record $300,000. The 300 bursaries valued at $1,000 each are the highest total funding amount, the highest individual bursary value and the greatest number of entrance bursaries.
As we approach Convocation ceremonies later this spring and people start planning for the fall, it’s important to recognize the important role that Loyalist can play in a person’s future.
While the College has faced a number of funding and staffing challenges over the past two years, it remains a vital resource for local industries, training programs, medical organizations and an important hub of learning for the young and young at heart alike.
As we continue to be squeezed by inflation, rising housing and rental costs and the extended impact of the war in the middle east, post-secondary education can seem out of reach for many.
Fortunately, we have a top notch facility right in our own backyard, and people who will take time (like at next week’s event) to help show people the power of small.
I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
