Some of our best and brightest young minds are returning with some hardware and the experience of a lifetime after a successful trip to Alberta.
The prestigious Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) 2026 was just held in Edmonton.
Among the competitors were five students with the local school boards, who presented projects covering a wide range of subjects from Environment and Climate Change to Health and Wellness to Digital Technology.
Their results were as impressive as their presentations and the students themselves.
Surya Narayan Santhakumar: Won specialty award – The Engineering Innovation Award
Alicia Zhang: Won a bronze medal in the Junior Division
Charlotte Guan: Won a bronze medal in the Junior Division
Eli Poyner: Won a bronze medal in the Intermediate division and a Shad Scholarship Award
It warms my heart to see our young people boldly going out and making strides like this in the field of science, earning awards and scholarships and owning the spotlight like few people ever will in any field.
It shows that the future is bright, with some of its leading lights being powered by lessons they learn right here in classrooms across the Quinte Region.
