Search conducted after person reported in water in Thurlow on Saturday

There were some scary moments as emergency crews conducted an urgent search on the Moira River in Thurlow on Saturday.

A report came in about someone falling into the water from the Bridge on Maitland Drive by Cannifton Road North on Saturday afternoon at 2:11 pm.

The Belleville Fire Department led a water search of the area assisted by Belleville Police and their aerial drone, but they didn’t find anyone.

Firefighters cleared the scene about an hour later and turned the investigation over to Belleville Police for follow up.

More information may be released on Monday.
