Quinte West OPP lay impaired charges in two investigations

Quinte West Detachment OPP officers have laid charges in two impaired driving investigations.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Dundas Street West, Quinte West. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Agota KEREKES, age 58, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP, conducted a traffic stop on Queen Street, Quinte West, leading to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC), the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) and the Cannabis Control Act (CCA).

Carrie BRISTOL, age 43, from Quinte West was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Have care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Obstruct plate
  • Backing on roadway – divided highway

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on 28 May 2026. Additionally, the vehicles they were operating were impounded for seven days, and their licences suspended for 90 days.
