Nicole Beatty announces intention to run for Mayor in Cobourg

By Paul Martin Apr 15, 2026 | 10:48 AM

Cobourg Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty has announced her candidacy for Mayor in the 2026 municipal election. A lifelong resident with a passion for her community and a proven record of service, Beatty has deep roots in Cobourg, and is ready to lead the town she has always called home.  Cobourg is where Beatty grew up, learned the values of volunteerism, launched her business, and is now raising her family. Her deep dedication to the people and places that define Cobourg is at the heart of her decision to run.

Throughout her life, Beatty has brought people together, solved problems, and delivered results.  She is ready to bring that same commitment to the Mayor’s office. She puts it simply, “Cobourg needs a mayor who listens, speaks to the facts, and makes decisions people can trust. This community has given so much to me and my family. Serving as its Mayor would be the honour of a lifetime, and the most meaningful work I could do.”

Experience That Matches the Moment

Beatty brings a strong and well-rounded record of public service and community leadership. She began her municipal involvement on Town advisory committees, served as a Councillor from 2018 to 2022, and has been Deputy Mayor since 2022. In these roles, she has helped shape budgets, guide long-term planning, and champion key priorities including recreation investments and housing policies. She also brings over a decade of private-sector experience as a business owner, having run a consulting practice since 2013. Through her work, Beatty has helped organizations raise millions of dollars, improve how they plan and operate, and deliver impactful programs. She has also served on multiple boards and founded local non-profits supporting the Northumberland community.

Clear Leadership. Honest Communication. Real Results.

Beatty is known for her clear, honest, and collaborative approach. She believes good leadership means being transparent about challenges, realistic about solutions, and respectful of the people most affected by the outcomes. For Beatty, it’s not about politics.  It’s about showing up, doing the work, and earning trust every day.

“I want to work with residents, not just for them,” Beatty says. “That means staying engaged, listening, and being honest about where we are and where we’re going. Together, we can focus on what matters most and get things done for Cobourg.”

Focused on What Residents Are Asking For

Beatty’s campaign is centered on the priorities she hears from residents every day:

  • Affordability and tax stability

  • Responsible growth and infrastructure planning

  • Housing options for young families and seniors

  • Community safety and quality of life

  • Economic vitality and workforce development

  • Practical, long-term solutions for homelessness and mental health

Beatty will officially file her nomination on May 1, 2026, and will release her full platform at that time. Residents who want to learn more, volunteer, or get involved can visit nicolebeatty.ca or email hello@nicolebeatty.ca. Election Day is October 26, 2026.
