Domestic, mischief and impaired over past 24 hours in Belleville

Belleville Police dealt with incidents involving a verbal altercation and mischief, a physical domestic dispute and an impaired driver over the past 24 hours.

 

Thursday evening before 7 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a disturbance. It was reported that a verbal altercation escalated when a male threw a vacuum at a female’s vehicle, damaging the windshield.

As a result of police investigation, a 49-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with domestic mischief.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

Thursday at approximately 9:00pm, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s north end regarding a domestic dispute.

It was reported that a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation in which a male struck a female in the face and retrieved a knife during the altercation.

Officers on scene 48-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

· Assault – spousal

· Assault with a weapon – spousal

He was held for a bail hearing.

Early Friday morning, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop on Wallbridge Loyalist Rd.

Officers spoke to the male driver, and as a result of police investigation, Balakrishnan Pandalangat, 61-year-old Frankford man, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in May.
