The Police Service Board in Cobourg has issued the following statement on the death of Northumberland OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, who died following a motorcycle crash on the 401 in Cobourg on Monday.
STATEMENT – The Cobourg Police Service Board is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, who died in the line of duty in Cobourg last evening.
This heartbreaking loss is being felt far beyond the policing community. Today, our entire community mourns together alongside Sergeant Malcolm’s family, friends, and colleagues. In moments such as these, we are reminded that behind every uniform is a person who dedicated their life to serving and protecting others, often at great personal risk.
We know many residents are feeling a profound sense of grief and sorrow today. Cobourg is a compassionate and close-knit community, and we encourage everyone to lean on one another, offer
kindness, and support those who may be struggling with this tragedy.
