It’s always great to see people give to important local organizations, but it’s even better when you see how much they really care about the mission and the people making it happen.
Yesterday, the skies parted and allowed them to hold a quick outdoor moment to celebrate the latest donation from Chad Buell and Kevin Colebourne, Financial Advisors for Co-operators in Belleville to the Children’s Safety Village.
They delivered another $20,000 to help in their redevelopment and relocation campaign, which takes on new significance as you can now clearly see the facility from Dundas Street now that the demolition of the former Police Station to make way for the new Habitat Village is complete.
As I dashed on out for the ceremony yesterday, I was reflecting on the fact that it hadn’t been long since their last big donation to the project.
And, as I spoke with Chad and Kevin again on site, it became obvious that they REALLY get it.
The Children’s Safety Village provides a wide range of programs for children in local schools on everything from road to internet safety, and recently expanded to provide a seniors on-line safety and anti-fraud program.
With so many local organizations struggling, fundraising for a move like the current one can be very challenging, but if you have seen what the Children’s Safety Village does then you know why it not only helps people, but actually saves lives everyday.
Chad and Kevin don’t just understand that, they believe in it and know what a difference it makes, and that is as valuable as the check they presented in front the miniature building on site with their company’s name on it.
I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
