UPDATE – Monday at 10 am – Belleville Fire has provided an update to the structure fire on Saturday, April 25 at 109 Parks Drive in Belleville.
The fire was determined to be accidental; there were no injuries and damage is estimated at approximately $300,000.00.
Belleville Fire & Emergency Services is reminding everyone to be aware of their surroundings and to have a fire watch in place when working with “hot works” (ie; welding, cutting, grinding)
ORIGINAL STORY FROM SATURDAY – An auto body shop in Thurlow’s industrial park was lost in a major fire on Saturday in Belleville.
Belleville fire responded to a fully involved structure fire in the 100 block of parks drive, just north of Walmart in the industrial area at 10:54 am.
An auto body shop was housed in the structure. It was completely destroyed. There were no injuries.
All five Belleville stations responded to provide water tanker support.
Belleville Police blocked off Parks Drive for several hours.
The fire was out by 3 pm but the cause is unknown. An investigator with the Belleville Fire Department has responded to the scene.
