The Ontario government has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to redesign the intersection of Highways 7 and 41 in Kaladar, marking a significant step toward improving road safety and traffic flow in Hastings–Lennox and Addington.
Ric Bresee, MPP for Hastings–Lennox and Addington, announced today that the RFP process is now underway for engineering and design work at the intersection of Ontario Highway 7 and Ontario Highway 41 in Kaladar.
“I am very pleased to see this milestone achieved,” said Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee. “The intersection of 7 and 41 has seen far too many accidents and near-accidents, and unfortunately some terrible tragedies. I’m so glad to move this forward in cooperation with Addington Highlands and Lennox and Addington County. These improvements will make this location safer for everyone.”
“The installation of traffic lights and the realignment of this busy and dangerous intersection have been a priority for Addington Highlands for more than a decade,” added Addington Highlands Reeve Tony Fritsch. “This Provincial decision to move forward with the detailed design and engineering is an important and necessary step to becoming prepared for the construction phase. Addington Highlands greatly appreciates this continued Provincial progress towards the ultimate goal of a new and much safer intersection.”
“Our government is investing $30 billion to build the highway infrastructure we need to keep our province moving forward,” said Ontario Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria. “The new intersection at Highways 7 and 41 will improve road
safety and create good-paying jobs, protecting Ontario’s economy in the face of tariffs and economic uncertainty.”
Once a successful proponent is selected through the competitive RFP process, detailed design and engineering studies will begin. These studies will inform final construction plans and timelines.
