Hawks, Dukes finish out regular season road schedules Thursday

Thomas Kuipers 15th goal of the season 4:23 into the third period stood as the game-winner in a tight 2-1 Trenton Golden Hawks win over the King Rebellion.

Joey Brehmer notched his 24th of the season in the second frame.

Assists went to Kale Mace, Lucas Digiantommaso, Isaiah Shantz and Wyatt Gregory.

Hayden Jeffery was solid with 38 saves as the Hawks finished their road season at 22-5-0-1.

The team will get set for a playoff tune-up in their regular season finale Friday night versus the Aurora Tigers at 7:30 p.m. at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens.

FLYERS 7 DUKES 0

The Wellington Dukes had a tough time of it in their road finale on Thursday night.

The Leamington Flyers jumped ahead 2-0 after the first and cruised to a 7-0 rout of the Dukes in their one and only regular season meeting.

Royden Smith and Dryden Riley split the net for Wellington as the Dukes were outshot 49-29.

The Dukes drop to 26-20-4-5 ahead of their regular season capper at home 7:30 Sunday night versus the Lindsay Muskies.
