A Golden Hawk has been awarded a high honour after a successful first month of the season.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced on Friday that Taeo Artichuk of the Trenton Golden Hawks has been named the East Conference Player-of-the-Month for September.

The recognition came after he tallied a conference-leading 20 points during nine games. His seven goals included one power play goal and a game winner.

The 20-year-old Ajax native is in his third season with the Hawks following two years with Erie in the OHL, having earned 89 points in 55 regular season games last season. The team won the OJHL regular season and playoff championships.

18-year-old Joseph Cadorin of the Pickering Panthers was runner-up to Artichuk as the East Conference Player-of-the-Month.

Artichuk will be honoured during a pre-game ceremony this fall.
