More arrests in Tyendinaga cannabis raids

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 2, 2025 | 8:24 AM

More arrests have been made as joint police operations on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory into illegal cannabis grow-ops continue.

During a warrant execution on Homeland Drive Wednesday morning, Tyendinaga Police stated officers managed to get two males of Asian descent into custody, while three Asian males fled the area and one was still left outstanding.

By early Thursday morning, all six were taken into custody, Tyendinaga Police stated in an update.

Community members are asked to call 911 to report any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity.

This comes following a recent submission by the Mohawks to the Tyendinaga Police and Ontario Provincial Police, including the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, of an interlocutory injunction seeking to block police raids and seizures of marijuana operations.

Also, in a media statement Wednesday, the Chiefs of Ontario expressed strong support for recent investigations between First Nation police services and the OPP.

“These joint operations are crucial in combating organized crime networks that exploit First Nation lands and threaten the safety and sovereignty of our communities,” the statement read in part.
