A Belleville man is facing charges after he drove into a police vehicle back on Friday.

Around 7 a.m. Friday, police went into the city’s west end and found the suspect vehicle parked in the roadway blocking traffic.

After approaching the vehicle, officers noticed a male asleep behind the wheel and when they awoke him, he reportedly drove his car into the nearby police cruiser before fleeing at a high rate of speed.

Officers engaged in a pursuit, but it was discontinued due to public safety.

A short time later, the unoccupied suspect vehicle was spotted in a parking lot on North Front Street.

41-year-old Kenneth Felker was eventually found, arrested and charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer and driving while suspended.

He was held for a bail hearing.
