Hastings County set to take part in national homelessness measuring efforts

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 6, 2025 | 11:33 AM

Hastings County will be participating in a nationally coordinated effort to measure homelessness across Canada later this week.

The County says it will join forces with volunteers and community agencies in a Point-in-Time Enumeration exercise on Thursday.

The count will take place across Hastings County targeting both sheltered and unsheltered locations with a goal of assessing the number of homeless individuals on this specific date.

This PIT Count, County officials stated, aims to improve understanding of the needs and circumstances of the people who are affected by homelessness in the community.

Results from the Point-in-Time Count will be made publicly available, and they will be used to inform and improve the County’s response to homelessness.

A report on the last enumeration efforts can be seen at this link.
