Belleville Police have arrested a man in a case involving intimate partner violence.

On October 24th at 1:40am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the downtown area involving two males. Upon arrival, the individuals were separated, and no further complaints were made regarding the incident.

While speaking with one of the males, his phone rang. He reported to officers that the caller was with a female who had been assaulted. Officers spoke to the female over the phone, who reported to police that a male had hit and choked her earlier in the evening.

Police attended the caller’s address, where they observed several people outside, including the female they spoke to on the phone and the male. The female further reported that the male had attacked her.

As a result of investigation, a 21-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.
