A Belleville man was charged with mischief after reportedly failing to enter a residence Monday night.

City Police stated a disturbance was reported to them after 10:30 p.m. in the east end, where a man had reportedly threw items at a door and punched a window in an attempt to get inside the residence.

He then fled on foot.

Officers learned the man was attempting to contact a female inside the residence, breaching the conditions of his release order which prohibits communication with the female or being at any place she is known to be.

A 45-year-old man faces a mischief under $5,000 charge, as well as two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
