In a time of crisis, we witness the remarkable courage and dedication of those who serve on the front lines.
As wildfires rage across most provinces and in recent days here in southern Ontario, I’d like to extend my gratitude to the men and women fighting the flames.
It’s been an extremely hot and dry summer with little rain making it even more challenging for firefighting efforts.
Our firefighters, Canadian Armed Forces, Ministry of Natural Resources, Canadian Red Cross and many others have been working tirelessly around the clock to protect communities and assist those forced to flee their homes.
Their bravery and resilience in such extreme conditions highlight the strength of the human spirit.
Over the weekend wildfires broke out in Hastings along with the City of Kawartha Lakes and are still being fought on the ground along with support from water bombers.
Officials have been asking the public to refrain from flying drones and being on lakes in those areas so water bombers have easy access to the area.
Full burn bans are also in place in most areas for safety.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan also issued a warning on Monday, urging smokers to refrain from discarding their cigarette butts out of their vehicles.
Adhering to these simple requests from our officials in this time of need is the least we can do.
By doing our part, we not only protect ourselves but also show appreciation for the heroes who risk their lives for our safety.
I’m Nicole Kleinsteuber and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
