Hastings Lennox and Addington has a Liberal candidate in the upcoming provincial election.
Lynn Rigby was nominated as the candidate to run in the election on Feb. 27, the Hastings-Lennox and Addington Provincial Liberal Association announced on Monday.
“Lynn Rigby is the ideal candidate to represent Hastings Lennox Addington at Queen’s Park,” the association stated in a media release. “With many years of experience as a specialized hospital physiotherapist in Kingston, Lynn brings a deep understanding of front-line healthcare issues to this election. She is known for her commitment to public service and strong work ethic.”
Rigby is a long-time resident and family farm owner in the Stone Mills Township. With “deep roots in the community” Rigby “understands the unique and very real challenges facing rural and small-town Ontario,” the release stated.
Rigby said she is running because she is “concerned” about where we all live.
“I know the value of good roads and safe bridges for getting to work, safe schools and supported teachers for our children, support for our hardworking agriculture community to feed all of us, and of course the healthcare we all deserve,” she said. “Like most people in Hastings, Lennox and Addington I share the idea that Ontarians expect value for their tax dollars and respect from the politicians they elect, and we are just not getting either.”
Rigby said her personal experience as a widow and mother of three, including a son in the military, gives her insight into the diverse needs and challenges of raising families in our part of Ontario.
“Lynn’s background in healthcare, agriculture, and family life makes her uniquely qualified to represent Hastings Lennox and Addington in the Ontario Legislature” said OLP Leader, Bonnie Crombie. “She will be a strong fighter for her riding on the real things that matter most.”
Rigby will run against PC Ric Bresee and NDP Jessica Zielke. A Green candidate hasn’t been announced yet.
