Electric vehicle fire in Quinte West

An electric vehicle suffered heavy damage in a fire on Sunday in Quinte West.

Firefighters were called out to the Trenton ONroute along the eastbound 401 at 7:30 am.

The fire was very difficult to put out, requiring crews to use a thermal blanket to help smother the flames.

Firefighters were on the scene for more than 3.5 hours.

This was the first fire involving an electric vehicle in Quinte West.

There were no injuries. The car suffered heavy damage.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
