UPDATE: Police operation in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory area completed

UPDATE: The police operation in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has concluded.

OPP East Region posted that officers have left an area on the Territory around 4 p.m.

No further details are being released to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Ontario Provincial Police is busy Tuesday afternoon.

Police in the East Region stated members of the public will be seeing increased police presence in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.

OPP officers are at a location on Highway 49 conducting an ongoing investigation.

There is no threat to public safety in this operation and police say no further information will be released to protect the integrity of the investigation.

This follows word from OPP Central Region that Northumberland OPP officers are in Campbellford conducting a similar investigation near the Trent River.
