Belleville Police have charged a person with impaired driving following an incident where someone was reportedly asleep at the wheel.
On February 4th (Wednesday) at 11:19pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s east end after a female was observed to be asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a suspect vehicle, which was stopped in the roadway with a female driver reportedly still behind the wheel. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver and observed possible signs of impairment.
As a result of investigation, Coralea Shaw, 41-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – alcohol and drugs and was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with several offences.
She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court in March.
