The winter weather combined with reported impairment led to the arrest of a Belleville driver in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Around 12:20 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the city’s west end.

It was reported that a vehicle had driven into a snowbank and that the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers arrested and charged Michael Maher, 46, with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration level over 80 mg.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
