Centre Hastings receives nearly $4.7 million in wastewater infrastructure funding

Centre Hastings is the latest municipality to receive crucial funding to improve water and wastewater infrastructure.

MPP Ric Bresee announced the Ontario government is investing up to $4,692,075 from the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream.

The MHIP-HSWS funding will be used to rehabilitate and expand the sanitary sewer trunk in the Village of Madoc.

“I am thrilled to see the positive relationship between the province and Centre Hastings has resulted in this wonderful contribution to the wastewater systems for the residents of the Village of Madoc,” said Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee.

“I am grateful to Premier Ford and to Minister McCarthy for continuing to show support for our small, rural and northern communities, ensuring that these water and wastewater
systems are sustainable across the province.”

“As our Municipality grows, this funding will help ensure we can meet the housing needs of both current residents and future generations,” stated Tom Deline, Mayor of Centre Hastings.

“We will continue to work with our provincial partners to move projects forward and bring new housing to our community.”

Deline went on to state that this investment supports the housing-enabling infrastructure that rural communities like Centre Hastings urgently need.

“We appreciate the province’s continued support as we do our part to address the housing crisis and build a more sustainable and inclusive future for residents of all ages.”

This funding is part of a historic investment of $4 billion in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program.
