Hawks double Huskies

A tough division rivalry matchup produced a gutty road victory for the Trenton Golden Hawks on Saturday.

The Hawks got 32 saves from Colton Drillen-Roach as part of a 4-2 win.

A 1-0 advantage was grabbed by Trenton after one courtesy of Joey Brehmer’s 20th of the year from Jack Ziliotto and Lucas Digiantommaso.

Much like they did the previous night at home, the Hawks took control of the lead for good in the mid-part of the game.

After Liam Oravsky evened the score about five minutes into the second period, Mason Musclow found an answer with his second of the season from Kale Mace and Logan Bennett.

Andrew Wycisk advanced the Hawks to a 3-1 lead on a setup from Taeo Artichuk and Thomas Kuipers and thwarted the Huskies valiant efforts to claw back.

Haliburton kept pressing in the third, earning a penalty shot through Chase Del Colombo that was denied by Drillen-Roach, before eventually pulling back within one on another Oravsky goal with 1:14 remaining.

Trenton hung tough and managed to ice the win on a Jack Ziliotto empty-netter from Artichuk and Duncan Schneider.

The Hawks improve to 32-8-0-2 with 66 points, staying one up on Stouffville for first in the East as they picked up all four possible points this weekend.

The club is next in action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Toronto versus the St. Mike’s Buzzers.
