A Belleville man had his escape attempt thwarted after a collision with a snowplow early Friday morning.

Before 3 a.m. a collision was reported in the downtown area involving a vehicle and a snowplow.

Witnesses reported to Belleville Police officers on scene that the male driver had exited the vehicle following the collision and fled the scene on foot.

Officers eventually caught up to the man and arrested him.

20-year-old Vipishan Sureswaran faces an impaired driving charge, along with being impaired with a blood alcohol concentration level over 80 mg, dangerous operation and failure to stop after accident.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
