A major weekend cold snap begins Friday in Quinte.

Friday began at a chilly minus 9 (as measured at CFB Trenton) but the day will get colder as it continues, falling to minus 19 on Friday afternoon, with a wind chill of minus 29 expected.

There is a real risk of frostbite that continues into Saturday, which has a forecast high of minus 15 and an expected low on Saturday night of minus 20.

A cold warning is in effect from Environment Canada, so folks in Quinte are strongly urged to get bundled up and protect themselves and their loved ones.
