Museum workshops encourage creativity and skill-building

This winter, the Museum of Lennox & Addington invites adults and teens to slow down, get creative, and learn something new through its Masterpiece in Progress series-  hands-on workshops designed to inspire reflection, skill-building, and artistic exploration.
Running from January through March, the series features three unique, instructor-led workshops that blend creativity with mindfulness and traditional craft techniques.
The series begins with a New Year Vision Board Workshop on January 24 and 31, a two-day experience led by Janice Dirksen of Let Go and Shine. Participants will reflect on their goals and values through guided exercises, journaling, and meditation before creating a personalized vision board to set intentions for the year ahead.
In February, participants can explore fibre arts in a Rug Hooking Workshop on February 7 and 21. Led by fibre artist Denise Finn of Soulful Skeins Rug Hooking, this beginner-friendly workshop introduces the fundamentals of traditional rug hooking as participants create a 6” x 6” hooked piece depicting a lavender sunset. All tools and materials are provided.
The series concludes with a Wet Felted Embroidery Heart Workshop on March 7, where participants will create a decorative felted heart using wet felting and basic embroidery stitches. This relaxing, three-hour workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned makers alike.
All workshops take place at the Museum of Lennox & Addington at 97 Thomas Street East, Napanee, and require pre-registration. Reduced rates are available for museum members and teens (ages 13–17).
