A former Belleville Bull that went on to have a brief stint in the NHL has died.
Jason Lafreniere passed away at the age of 59 in Vancouver, according to the NHL Alumni Association.
The cause of death is unknown.
Lafreniere was on the 1985-86 Belleville Bulls squad that made the Ontario Hockey League final and posted 110 points in only 48 games in his lone season in Belleville.
He added 32 points in 22 playoff games.
The St. Catharines, Ontario native suited up for 146 NHL games between the Quebec Nordiques, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning, posting 87 points.
He then went on to play in the AHL, the former International Hockey League and various European Leagues before hanging up the skates in 2005.
