Local residents are encouraged to ‘push’ themselves further for mental health support.
The Push-Up Challenge is back for February 2026, and the Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward is adding an optional Ice-Bucket Challenge–inspired twist for those who want to tag others.
From February 5 to 27, individuals of all ages and fitness levels can complete push-ups or substitute exercises such as sit-ups or squats, while learning important mental health facts.
Over the course of the challenge, participants aim to complete a total of 2,000 reps, representing approximately 2,000 lives lost to suicide each day worldwide.
The challenge encourages tagging @CMHA HPE and #Push4Purpose on Facebook, along with nominating family members, friends, or colleagues to continue the movement throughout the community.
“The Push-up Challenge is a powerful way to combine movement, learning and connection,” said CMHA HPE CEO Lisa Ali.
“By taking part, participants help raise awareness, reduce stigma and support mental health services that make a real difference in the lives of families and individuals across our region.
Ways to Get Involved:
1. Sign Up and Track Your Progress
Join the challenge as an individual or with friends, colleagues, or members of your workplace, school, or club. Download the free app, and starting February 5, track your progress and discover key mental health facts along the way.
2. Keep the Challenge Going
This year, CMHA HPE is adding an Ice-Bucket Challenge–inspired twist for those who want to tag others. After completing daily movements, participants are encouraged to tag @CMHA HPE and #Push4Purpose on Facebook, then nominate others to keep the challenge going.
3. Fundraise or Donate
Participants can fundraise throughout the challenge, and anyone can make a direct donation by selecting CMHA HPE as the charity to support.
