A Belleville man was arrested on a drug charge after someone was found in the trunk of a vehicle on Tuesday morning.

On January 13th at 2:50am, Belleville Police observed a vehicle driving in the city’s east end that was associated with a male known to be wanted on committal warrants. Officers observed a female driving the vehicle with a male passenger and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers reportedly observed a male hiding in the trunk. The male was identified and arrested on the strength of the outstanding committal warrants.

During the arrest, officers located cocaine in the male’s jacket pocket.

As a result, Richard Brant, a 53-year-old Belleville man, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
