Homicide investigation continues in Kingston

A tragic homicide is being reported out of Kingston.

On Tuesday evening, Kingston Police were called to Kingston General Hospital in response to an unidentified male patient who had died having suffered injuries that were the result of an assault.

The initial investigation revealed the male’s identity as 34-year-old Kingston resident Jayme Shawn Syring, and that the incident took place at a residence in the 2600-block of Princess Street.

After starting an investigation, Kingston Police and members of specialty units arrested a 51-year-old Kingston man and conducted a search warrant in the 100-block of Sutherland Drive.

The accused is scheduled to appear in bail court on Friday.

Investigators say they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no risk to public safety. No other injuries were reported in relation to this incident.
