Bowmanville resident faces impaired, dangerous driving charges in April crash

Northumberland OPP have charged an individual following a serious collision on Highway 401 back in the spring.

On April 20, just before 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Highway 401, near Newtonville Road, in the Municipality of Port Hope.

Two vehicles were involved and one driver was air-lifted to Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.

On August 5 police arrested one of the drivers involved in the collision.

Randall Brennan, 44, from Bowmanville has been charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Dangerous operation

Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

The accused is due to appear in Cobourg Court in September.
