SIU invokes mandate in Deseronto

By Hailey MacDonald Dec 26, 2025 | 6:15 AM

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Lennox and Addington County.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in Deseronto.

While officers were attempting to take an individual into custody, the person sustained an injury and was transported to hospital.

The OPP has notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information. Any inquiries related to the SIU investigation should be directed to siu.media@ontario.ca.
