Dukes throttle Cougars to extend winning streak

By Brock Ormond Dec 14, 2025 | 4:07 PM

The Wellington Dukes are flying into the holiday break in style with five straight victories, capped off by a 10-2 throttling of the struggling Cobourg Cougars on Sunday.

Wellington surged to a 3-0 lead on markers from Liam Campbell (10th of the season), Sammy Longo (2nd) and Tristan Williams (5th).

It was continuous full throttle in the second as well for the Dukes, with six goals posted on the board.

Landon Marleau converted on a powerplay for his 15th of the season, Zack Carrier nabbed his 20th and 21st of the year, Campbell and Longo each chipped in with their second of the day and Quinn McNamara popped home his second of the season in the dying seconds., worked around a Jaden Lyons tally for Cobourg.

Williams drove home his second of the game to tack on one more notch on the belt in the third, before Max Cervjakovs added a late tally for the Cougars.

Every Duke except three had at least one point, with Longo leading the way with four points after mustering just one through his first 29 games.

The shots favoured Wellington 44-35, with Colby Booth-Housego making 33 stops in his fourth straight start.

The Dukes improve to 17-11-2-4 and will have a nice long rest for Christmas before returning to the ice January 3 at 7 p.m. in Aurora.
