Two charged after collision, seizure of drugs and weapon

A collision and seizure of drugs and items have led to charges for two people from Northumberland County.

OPP officers, paramedics and fire crews were on the scene of a reported collision into a tree in the Oak Ridges Drive and Harwood Road area in Hamilton Township before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Police had received information that a weapon may have been inside the vehicle during investigation.

The driver fled the scene, prompting an increased police presence. The OPP Emergency Response Team assisted with containment, and the individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital with minor injuries from the collision.

A search of the vehicle and surrounding area resulted in the seizure of an imitation weapon, suspected drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

Ryan Webb, 38, of Port Hope was charged with possession of a imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving while prohibited, driving while suspended and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Victoria Wilson, 27, from the Township of Hamilton was given a charge of obstructing a peace officer.

Webb is set to appear for bail in Cobourg Court, while Wilson is scheduled to appear in January.
