Dukes steal overtime win Thursday

By Brock Ormond Dec 11, 2025 | 11:19 PM

The Wellington Dukes needed to erase a two-goal deficit to steal another win on the road on Thursday in a key conference battle.

Landon Marleau’s two goals, including the overtime winner, lifted the Dukes to their third straight victory, 3-2 over the St. Michael’s Buzzers.

Marleau cued the comeback for Wellington after St. Mike’s bagged two goals on Royden Smith through Max Mahoney and Caiden Clair.

At 1:51 of the second frame, the Los Gatos, California product squeezed through a couple of checks and beat Jonathan Frattaroli up high from Evan Erwin and Carson Albert to get on the board.

Much like in Sunday’s win over the Aurora Tigers, the Dukes made good on a late regulation powerplay, with Vince Albanese burying the tying marker with less than four minutes to go.

The Vaughan, Ont. native’s eighth of the year came on a backhand after a seam pass from Zach Mascard to stun the Buzzers.

Tristan Williams added a second assist on the goal.

Marleau’s winner came on a tuck play after drawing Frattaroli out of his crease at 3:16 of the first overtime from Liam Campbell and Williams for the victory.

Booth-Housego made 35 saves as St. Mike’s edged Wellington 37-35 in shots.

The Dukes improve to 15-11-2-4 on the season, closing within one point of St. Mike’s for fifth in the East Conference ahead of their last home game before Christmas on Friday versus the Newmarket Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m.
