Two-hour free parking to start early next year

By Brock Ormond Nov 24, 2025 | 1:20 PM

Residents of Belleville who park downtown can get some financial relief starting early next year.

During the Nov. 10 regular council meeting, Belleville City Council approved a motion to implement two-hour free parking in municipal lots in the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area boundaries.

The initiative is set to begin at an undetermined date in 2026.

Once in place, signage indicating the two-hour free parking will be installed in affected lots.

On-street parking will remain free for one-hour only.

An implementation plan is in development and additional details, including a start date, will be provided once available.

Meanwhile, the City of Belleville is reminding residents to adhere to existing parking regulations to avoid fines.
