Councillor Card brings forward resolution to improve primary care in Quinte West

Councillor Card brought forward a resolution to improve primary care in Quinte West at Quinte West Council today.

The resolution states that the City of Quinte West has invested millions of dollars to support and expand primary health care over the previous eight years as the community has suffered a chronic shortage and this lack of primary care negatively affects the well-being of our residents and strains the yearly municipal budgets; as they now receive even more asks for health care spending to support Quinte Health in their recruitment of Trenton Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Physicians.

He asked that the Council of the City of Quinte West invite representatives from the HPE Ontario Health Team to present information to Quinte West Council on the Primary Care Action Plan Program, the outcome of the first two funding rounds, and approximately how many Quinte West residents will be connected to primary care by Spring 2026 as a result of this funding, in accordance with the province’s aims.

The resolution was received by Council.
