Several groups and organizations are pitching in to help rebuild hope for a hurricane-ravaged country by way of a donation drive this weekend.
The City of Belleville is joining together with the Belleville Caribbean Festival Committee to hold this event to aid Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa.
The donation-drive will be held for two consecutive days, this Friday and Saturday, at the following locations, with Friday’s event being at the Metro grocery store from 2-5pm, 110 North Front Street and Saturday at the Freshco from 10 a.m. to noon at 305 North Front Street and Rona on 219 Millennium Parkway around the same time.
At these three locations, the BCFC are looking for donations of basic necessities, including bottled water, non-perishable foods (canned goods, rice, beans, pasta), baby formula, hygiene supplies (soap, toothpaste, sanitary pads, diapers), sanitizer and wipes, towels and washcloths, bed linens (new) and batteries.
The BCFC with the support of Belleville Police Service Belleville Fire and Emergency Services, Downtown District and community partners are offering help for Jamaica with the upcoming donation drive.
BPS will also collect items for donation until November 30th at its downtown Community Policing Office on 211 Front Street, in addition to its head office on 459 Sidney Street.
