Warming Centre preparation underway in Hastings County

By Brock Ormond Nov 12, 2025 | 2:13 PM

As the cold, snow and dampness hits our region, Hastings County is preparing Warming Centres to help shelter those in need.

A report to the County’s Community and Human Services Committee indicated the County will partner with the City of Quinte West and Town of Bancroft for the 2025-2026 winter season.

Both locations, Trenton United Church on 85 Dundas St. East in Trenton and 33 Bridge St. East in Bancroft will operate for 12 hours nightly from December 1, 2025, until March 31, 2026.

The Trenton location will be open from 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM and staffed by security personnel from Integrity Investigative Solutions Limited with assistance from volunteers.

The Bancroft Hybrid Model will operate from the new permanent location on Bridge St. East from 9:00 PM until 9:00 AM, with staffing being provided by both Integrity Investigative Solutions Limited and Grace Inn Shelter.

Expanded services this season include a shower program, amnesty boxes, accessibility ramp, designated smoking area, bike rack, and outdoor shed for limited client storage

The County also noted the Bridge Integrated Care Hub will absorb the responsibility of the Belleville Warming Centre through its ongoing operational model.

It will operate at the temporary location of 125 South Church Street starting November 23, until the permanent location at 1 Alhambra Square is ready.

The Bridge will be extending opening time to 22 hours a day starting December 1.

Hastings County’s involvement in the 2025-2026 Warming Centre for Belleville is yet to be determined; staff will keep committee apprised and any cost savings realized to the Homelessness Prevention Program funding will be brought before the committee at a future date.
