Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis has overall positive reaction to Federal Budget

By Hailey MacDonald Nov 5, 2025 | 7:39 AM

Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis says his reaction to the Federal Budget presented on Tuesday overall is positive.

He says two key issues attracted the most attention for him.

Ellis says new infrastructure spending is going to help many municipalities with roads, bridges and other big projects.

He says the new wastewater plant in Belleville alone is expected to cost $150 million dollars, and it would be great if it received federal support (along with provincial support).

Ellis was also very positive about the major increase announced in defence spending.

“With CFB Trenton in our own backyard, that will result in additional investments and spinoffs for the entire region.”
